I am a licensed clinical social worker and have worked
in the mental health field since the early 1980's. I received my BA in
Psychology from the University of Virginia and my Master of Social Work
degree from Catholic University, specializing in adult individual therapy.
As a social worker, I utilize a biopsychosocial approach to assessment
and treatment, which involves looking at health, mental health and social
issues affecting your life. I emphasize client self-determination, which
means that you directly set your goals for therapy. Therapy then becomes
a process that explores what you are feeling, thinking, and doing in your
day-to-day life. The purpose is to identify and maximize your strengths,
and make any desired changes in order to meet your goals. Past issues
and patterns of behavior are addressed as they relate to your goals in
the present.
